WindowDressers

WindowDressers brings volunteers together to improve the warmth and comfort of homes, lower heating costs, and reduce CO2 emissions by producing low-cost insulating window inserts that function as interior-mounted storm windows.
Our staff supplies, trains, and supports teams of community volunteers as they build affordable, insulating window inserts at local workshops.
Our volunteers organize, measure, and build inserts.
Our volunteers conduct outreach in their community to find homes that will benefit from insulating window inserts. We have programs for residential homes, businesses, and a special low-income program that provides up to 10 pine inserts for free. Our volunteers measure the windows of each homeowner and input the measurements into our customer software. We then cut and label custom kits for each window. Our volunteers pick up all the kits for their community along with all the gear, jigs, and consumable supplies needed to make the inserts. Then customers and volunteers come together for 4-8 days for a big Community Workshop where the inserts are built. This keeps costs down for everyone and builds community.
