Arthritis is the nation?s leading cause of disability. It robs one in every five adults and 300,000 children of loving life to its fullest. The Arthritis Foundation leads the way in helping people with arthritis live better today and create better tomorrows through new treatments, better access, and ultimately, cures. This is done by funding life-changing research, fighting for health care policies that improve the lives of those with arthritis, and partnering with families to provide empowering programs and information. The Arthritis Foundation is the largest private funder of research, advocacy and public health programs for the 50 million Americans with arthritis. The New England Region of the Arthritis Foundation helps almost 2.8 million adults and an estimated 13,200 children in our six state (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT) area that have doctor-diagnosed arthritis. We are devoted to the special needs of children, teens and young adults with arthritis. Our region provides college scholarships, camperships to attend special arthritis camps for kids ages 8-17, and assistance for families to attend the National Juvenile Arthritis Conference. We conduct Family Days, Teen Days, and Parent-to-Parent Dinners, to provide fun-filled and educational programs to children who have arthritis and their families.
